COASTAL GRIZZLY BEAR ADVENTURE I
When: June 12-16, 2023
Style: WILDLIFE
Activity Rating: Mild
Max Students: 7
Includes: Lodging, Meals, and Transportation During Workshop!
Set in a remote area of Alaska, within Lake Clark National Park, this is nothing short of an adrenaline-filled adventure that will render you both speechless and in awe of the wildlife images you will capture. During this workshop you will have the opportunity to SAFELY photograph male, female, and young (potential spring cub), wild grizzly bears at a up-close-and-personal range.
Imagine being at eye level with a Grizzly bear, at close range... It's an exhilarating, once-in-a-lifetime experience that you will never forget.
Bears are not the ONLY focus of this workshop! There are many subjects available to photograph: Eagles, Puffins, Sea Otters, to name a few, are all possible!
This workshop will be an in-field heavy workshop where you will spend a great deal of time in the field photographing and learning with hands on instruction. In June, there is approximately 20 hours of official amazingly perfect daylight and we will use a vast majority of it to get the most out of our time in Lake Clark!
When not in the field, we will lodge and dine in an exclusive, private lodge with an on-site private kitchen and chef. We know that you won't be coming on this adventure for the food, but we can tell you that the meals are absolutely out-of-this-world!
There is a high demand for Grizzly Bear workshops and 319 Photography is proud to be one of a handful of facilitators who are allowed to operate in this area. Group sizes are limited and opportunities are few. Please book well in advance to secure your slot.

HAVE SPECIFIC GEAR QUESTIONS?
We want YOU to get the most you possibly can from our UNIQUE / Workshops.
Part of getting the most you can from our Workshops is making sure you have the right gear for this style of photography. Unfortunately, not all digital cameras and lenses are made equal.
If you have any questions, whatsoever, concerning cameras, lens, tripods, intervalometers, laptops, or other accessories, please reach out to Tony via email at tony@319photography.com and he will gladly help you choose the right gear for the workshop.
NOTE: There is a 50 pound luggage weight limit for the small plane flight from Anchorage to the Lodge at Lake Clark. Please pack accordingly.
WHAT IS THE CLIMATE LIKE?
The weather in Alaska in June varies from cold and rain to warm and sunny with every possibility in between. It is impossible to give a proper estimate on the expected or average weather.
That said, It is important that you bring proper clothing. Layering is an essential element to being properly prepared. Ensure that you have rain protection not only for yourself, but your camera as well. This includes a rain jacket w/hood, rain pants, and a rainproof cover for your camera AND lenses.
As we can attest, the bears and other wildlife rarely care about the rain or other weather elements. As such, we will be in-field shooting regardless of weather conditions (given that it is safe to do so).
If you have specific clothing related questions and/or camera protection questions, please email Tony via Tony@319photography.com!
WHAT IS THE ACTIVITY LEVEL LIKE?
During our Workshop and time in Lake Clark, we will be escorted via ATV's to shooting locations, but there will be occasions when we will have to walk in order to position ourselves properly. As such, students should be able to:
-
Walk unassisted over uneven terrain while carrying their camera equipment
-
Traverse and manage terrain that includes sandy beaches, marsh land, loose sand/gravel, and level changes
-
Stand/knee or be on their feet several hours
If you have specific questions about the physical aspects of our workshops, contact Tony via email at tony@319photography.com
