Venture into the untamed wilderness of Finland with 319 Photography for a 7-day adrenaline-charged journey to the only place on Earth where bears, wolves, and wolverines roam together—and where you can potentially capture them all in one frame.
This is no ordinary photography workshop. We're heading deep into ancient boreal forests, through misty wetlands and under towering pine canopies. Here, legendary Finnish wildlife photographer Lassi Rautiainen has created a haven for raw, unfiltered encounters with Europe’s most elusive predators. It's where wild dreams become reality—and where your lens will come alive.
Over several thrilling days in the hides, you’ll be immersed in heart-pounding moments as nature unfolds just meters away. We’ll rotate between some of the region’s most iconic hides, each offering its own unique magic:
The Hides:
-
The Bog (aka "Paradise") – A surreal open landscape where up to 8 bears, several wolves, and the elusive wolverine may appear at once. Golden-hour here is pure cinematic gold.
-
The Lake Hide – Perfect for capturing bears reflected in still water, playing or patrolling the shoreline. A dream for composition and atmosphere.
-
The Owl Forest – A moody, shadowy woodland where wolverines steal the show. Bears and wolves lurk too, adding to the thrill.
-
The Pine Forest – Towering ancient trees and haunting light make this hide an epic setting for all three predators to make their entrance.
These wild encounters are safe—but totally unforgettable. The predators may come within 25-30 meters, offering intimate views without disturbing their natural behavior. And to top it off? We’ve timed the trip to coincide with the explosion of autumn colors, painting the forest in hues of fire and gold. We will also explore these colors with landscape photography during the morning before the wildlife becomes more active in the afternoon!
This is the wild, as it should be.
Join 319 Photography and write your own chapter in the story of the Finnish forest. Let’s chase predators, capture the untamed, and come home with images—and memories—that will stay with you forever.
NOTE: This journey is both a standalone option and part of a larger trip option combined with Nordic Light & Color workshop, which can be a continuation of our Predators of Finland workshop. Depending on how you are joining us, your point of arrival may vary.
For clients joining both workshops, you will arrive in Rovaniemi, Finland and will remain with us throughout the Nordic Light & Color workshop where you will ultimately depart from Evenes, Norway.
For clients joining only the Predators of Finland workshop, you may plan to ARRIVE and DEPART from Rovaniemi, Finland.

HAVE SPECIFIC GEAR QUESTIONS?
We want YOU to get the most you possibly can from our UNIQUE / Workshops.
Part of getting the most you can from our Workshops is making sure you have the right gear for this style of photography. Unfortunately, not all digital cameras and lenses are made equal. That said, we will work with whatever you have to help you create memorable images.
If you have any questions, whatsoever, concerning cameras, lens, tripods, intervalometers, laptops, or other accessories, please reach out to Tony via email at tony@319photography.com and he will gladly help you choose the right gear for the workshop.

WHAT IS THE CLIMATE LIKE?
In early September, Finland transitions into autumn, offering cool temperatures and vibrant foliage—ideal conditions for wildlife photography. Daily average highs range between 50°F - 60°F and daily average lows range between 39°F and 47°F.
That said, It is important that you bring proper clothing. Layering is an essential element to being properly prepared. Ensure that you have rain protection not only for yourself, but your camera as well. This includes a rain jacket w/hood, rain pants, and a rainproof cover for your camera AND lenses.
As we can attest, the bears and other wildlife rarely care about the rain or other weather elements. As such, we will be in-field shooting regardless of weather conditions (given that it is safe to do so).
If you have specific clothing related questions and/or camera protection questions, please email Tony via Tony@319photography.com!

WHAT IS THE ACTIVITY LEVEL LIKE?
This workshop does not require any intense phyiscal activity. The walk to our hides is less than 100 yards from the base lodge.
If you have specific questions about the physical aspects of our workshops, contact Tony via email at tony@319photography.com
